ARCH-ed TPM2 - Rakownia, Poland

Our second Transnational Project Meeting (TPM2) took place in Finland (8-10.08.2026), bringing together project partners for three inspiring days focused on equine welfare, horsemanship, and horseback archery.
The programme began in Helsinki, where participants explored the city and its surrounding islands before visiting Fageräng Stables to observe a mounted archery training session led by Anna Minkkinen.
The following days were hosted by EVRK and featured a series of practical workshops led by equine welfare expert Mervi Pakola from Hevostaito Akatemia. Participants learned how to identify signs of pain and discomfort in horses, assess equine movement, and better understand the subtle behavioural cues horses use to communicate.
The programme also focused on relaxation and groundwork techniques, saddle fitting, and methods for building trust and connection between horse and rider. Special attention was given to preparing horses for horseback archery through calm, confidence-building exercises.
Beyond the workshops, the meeting provided valuable opportunities for discussion, knowledge exchange, and strengthening cooperation between project partners.
ARCHed TPM #2 was a great example of how international collaboration can support both professional development and higher standards of equine welfare within the horseback archery community
