ARCH-ed Third Transnational Project Meeting - Podskalie, Slovakia

We’ve just kicked off another exciting #HBA workshop as part of our #ARCHed project, hosted by the Slovak Horse Archers in #Podskalie, Slovakia. This is our third meeting, building on the skills we developed during our previous session in Poland, where we focused on fair play, stress management, and improving cooperation between coach and student.

This time, we reunited to advance our horseback archery techniques under the guidance of Ági Maucha, the reigning Junior World Champion from the Némethy Horseback Archery Academy in Hungary. Before diving into practical training, we attended a workshop on "Developing Transversal Skills (4C)" led by Justyna Gieżyńska.

With the heat soaring, we extended our lunch break for a refreshing swim, and afterward, continued our #HBA training on foot and horseback until dusk. The day ended with a BBQ at Ekorezort Vendelín, where we enjoyed great food and company.

On the second day, we shifted focus to polishing shooting skills, with each participant having an individual coaching session with Ági Maucha. We also had our first horsemanship training session with horse whisperer Andrea Dufková from the Slovak Horse Archers, who worked with a young mare, transforming her in just 30 minutes into a more obedient and trusting horse. Later, as the temperature cooled down, we continued our HBA training on horseback.

On the final day, we had another session with Andrea Dufková, learning how to desensitize horses and prepare them for horseback archery. Meanwhile, the Polish team from Kawalkada Horseback Archery took advantage of the beautiful surroundings to capture some stunning photos in the mountains. After lunch, we wrapped up the workshop and headed home.

Our next meeting is scheduled for May 2024 in Germany, where Die Steppenreiter e.V. will be our host. Stay tuned!
